Zakya's role in contributing to the expansion and growth of Goodspice

Managing inventory has never been this easy. I can track product sales and stock levels in real time, which helps me make the right decisions about replenishment and avoid stockouts. Plus, I am able to quickly respond to market fluctuations as Zakya gives me the flexibility to update prices from anywhere. For a business like ours, this is really crucial.

Saurav SatishDirector, Goodspice

The company

Saurav Satish is the third-generation owner of a family business named Spice Naturale Exim Pvt Ltd based in Bangalore. Originating from Satish's grandfather, the business has evolved over six decades. The business specializes in wholesale supplies of spices and dry fruits and operates under the brand name Goodspice. In addition to wholesale supplies of spices and dry fruits, the company manufactures powders and masalas, supplying them in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

The challenge

Despite the long-standing success of Goodspice, the business faced several operational challenges that demanded a modern solution. Traditional methods of handwriting invoices that were once a hallmark of personalized service had become a bottleneck, leading to inefficiencies and delays.

"Before Zakya, we had discovered other POS providers in the market and started using those," recalled Satish.

"The customer service was bad, and even a small request took them roughly about two months, but yet they did not solve our problem. I realized that when the customer service is not that great, then there is no point going and buying that tool because at the end of the day, if I am not able to solve my query, then the amount of money that I have put in will go to waste."

These challenges not only proved time consuming but also introduced delays in customer service, hindering the company's commitment to prompt and efficient service. They needed a transformative solution that not only fixed the issues in billing but allowed them to track inventory in real time to improve the overall efficiency in business.

The solution

In the pursuit of that transformative solution, Satish explored various options and discovered the ideal fit in Zakya POS. Satish could see Zakya seamlessly getting integrated into the existing operations of Goodspice. The shift from manual to digital and mobile invoicing turned out to be a game-changer, enhancing speed and accuracy, and, in turn, significantly improving their customer service.

Each institution or business entity has certain unique requirements. For example, a textile owner might have a different requirement, and a person who is selling spices might have a different requirement. Everything lies in how a software can cater to different types of customers. Zakya's team was able to understand what I wanted from my business and helped me fix most of the things specific to my needs, so I decided to go ahead with it.

"Zakya became our reliable and unified platform for both wholesale and retail processes of their business; we are able to offer the best service based on our customer category by knowing them better," added Satish.

The ability to update prices remotely from anywhere offers great benefits for businesses like Goodspice, that handle regular fluctuations in product prices. This feature helped Satish make price adjustments from anywhere, eliminating the need to be physically present at the store. They started to enhance customer service by introducing prices based on varying purchasing volumes, whether customers buy in bulk or smaller quantities. This capability ensures that Goodspice can promptly respond to market changes and customer demands, optimizing pricing strategies for maximum profitability.

Benefits and ROI

The time spent on billing has been halved since transitioning from manual billing to Zakya. Satish emphasized that Zakya has contributed to enhancing customer interactions and relationship-building by streamlining operations and reducing time and resources on billing.

"Goodspice can allocate more time and resources to implementing effective sales strategies," Satish noted.

This shift allowed the business to focus on fostering stronger connections with customers, which can positively impact revenue through increased loyalty and satisfaction.

Satish now gains valuable insights into his inventory monthly, including which products are being sold and in what quantities. By analyzing monthly or weekly sales, Satish can identify trends such as increased sales of cranberries by 50%, for example. With this kind of insight, he can adjust his inventory accordingly and stock up on popular items, like cranberries, and adjust quantities for other products like berries and nuts. This data-driven approach allows Satish to make informed purchasing decisions based on real-time sales data so he can meet customer demand and optimize inventory levels effectively.

As an SME, building a customer database was previously a challenge for Goodspice. Now, Zakya helps manage their customer data and serves as a valuable resource for future marketing campaigns and customer engagement initiatives, such as creating WhatsApp groups or targeted campaigns, ultimately fostering stronger relationships with customers and encouraging loyalty.

Looking forward

"I am highly confident that Zakya will continue to benefit Goodspice in the long run, just like how it is helping us grow our business now," shared Satish.

He stresses that while small and medium-sized enterprises may not have the resources to invest heavily in technology, affordable solutions like Zakya make it feasible to adopt tech-based solutions. Satish strongly believes that integrating technology into various aspects of business operations is essential to be sustainable and adapt to changing market demands.
