Items are the products that you sell in your business. For example, in a super market, products such as milk, chocolates, cookies, cheese, are called Items. These items can be added to the Items module in Zakya.
There are two ways in which Items can be added to Zakya.
- Adding Items Manually.
- Importing Items
Adding Items Manually
Items can be manually added to the Items module in Zakya. This module consists of various fields which holds the information about a particular item, such as Name, SKU, Unit, Manufacturer, Selling Price, Cost Price, and so on. By default, the Items module has the following fields:
- Name: The name of the Item
- SKU: Stock Keeping Unit: A code that consists of alphanumeric characters, which is used to track an item in the inventory. When a customer purchases an item, the SKU will be scanned and the item will be removed from the inventory. This helps in identifying when an item should be restocked.
- Unit: Determines how an item should be measured. For example, centimeter - cm, inch - in , gram - g, kilogram - kg, inch - in, etc.
- HSN Code: Harmonized System of Nomenclature: A unique code that is globally accepted to identify the products and the rate of tax that is applicable in a particular region.
- Tax Preference: Specify whether an item is taxable or non-taxable.
- Dimensions: The length x width x height of an item, usually measured in Centimeters (cm).
- Weight: The weight of the item, usually measure in Kilograms (kg).
- Manufacturer: Specify the name of the company that converts the raw materials into a finished product.
- Brand: The name given by a manufacturer or an organization to a product.
- MPN: Manufacturer Part Number: An alphanumeric code given by the manufacturer to identify a product.
- UPC: Universal Product Code: This code will be printed on the product (as a barcode) for easy identification and to help track inventory. This is followed in the USA and helps accelerate the checkout process. Only numeric values can be entered here.
- EAN: European Article Number: This code will be printed on the product (as a barcode) for easy identification and to help track inventory. This code is required if you are selling internationally. Only numeric values can be entered here.
- ISBN: International Standard Book Number: A unique code that is used to classify books, magazines, and e-books. This is an alphanumeric field that supports letters, numbers, spaces, hyphens, etc.
- Item Image: Upload images of the product. The supported file formats are .gif, .png, ,jpeg, .jpg, and .bmp, and each file can be a maximum of 5MB. You can also mark an image as primary, which will then be displayed in all the transactions for the item.
- Sales Information
- Selling Price: The price at which you want to sell a product or item to the customer.
- Purchase Information
- Cost Price: The price at which you bought a product or item from the vendor.
- Account
- Description
- Tracking Inventory for the Item: While creating an item, you get an option to enable tracking inventory. If this is enabled, whenever a customer purchases a product, the stock will be updated, and you will be able to see the stock on hand.
- Inventory Account
- Opening stock: The number of items available at the beginning of the accounting period. For example, if the accounting period is from April 2020 to March 2021, then the number of items that are available in April will be the opening stock.
- Opening stock rate per unit: The price of an item from the opening stock.
- Reorder Point: The threshold limit that indicates that the stock is low. You will be notified whenever an item reaches the reorder point.

To add Items
- Go to Business > Inventory > Items and click + New.
- Enter the Item information and click Save.
Importing Items
If you have all the items in a spreadsheet, it can be imported to the Items module. Read More: Importing Data
