For a business to operate seamlessly, their interaction with customers must be smooth, clear, and accurate. When a customer places an order by a call, by a message, or through an ecommerce website, it becomes a document that encloses the customer details and the required items. This document that encloses customer data, the items ordered, their quantity, the quoted price, and any discounts is called a Sales Order.
A sales order is typically raised by the business on behalf of their customer, who may or may not be physically present at the time of order. It is used to record and keep track of their customer portfolio and the items ordered. Just like how a sales order can be raised via multiple platforms without the physical presence of the customer, Sales Orders in Zakya has also made it easy for the business to deliver the raised Orders. It can be delivered either via packages and shipments or drop-shipments or backorders.
There are various channels by which a customer can place an order: from the store via the POS desktop and windows software, or online ecommerce websites. All orders placed across different channels will be captured in the Sales Orders module. Here, you can view complete information about the order, such as order date and time, customer information, payment status, and delivery status. Various actions can also be carried out, such as recording a payment, creating a package, shipping, cancelling items, editing and deleting, and converting the sales order into a purchase order.
A sales order remains as a document of record until its converted into an invoice. Generating a sales order will have no impact on the physical items or inventory stock available. Though the packages and shipments will be raised against the sales order, an invoice should be raised for sales order in order to record payment for that order. In Zakya's billing app, a sales order can be placed for both store pick-up and door-delivery.

Using Sales Orders in an Apparel : A Use Case scenario
Zylker Apparel is a new business that has set up their shop in Chennai, heart of the city. For customers in the city, they have become the go to shopping zone. However, they are planning to expand their clientele and reach. How can they serve customers who wish to shop online and have their goods delivered?
This is where Zakya's Sales Orders come into play. Through the Zakya POS, Zylker Apparel's clients can place an order online and it will be generated as a sales order. Then on delivering it, either via shipping or door-delivery, Zylker Apparel can raise an invoice for the sales order and get paid.
In certain unusual instances where Zylker Apparel isn't stocked up on the ordered goods, they can either place a backorder or drop-ship from the webapp. Backorder is when a purchase order is raised to the vendor. This Purchase Order will be linked to the sales order raised by the client and the items will be delivered to Zylker who can then ship them.
Say Zylker Apparel is running low on delivery time and will like the vendor to directly delivery the items to the client, this is where drop-shipping comes into play. Upon raising a purchase order linked to the client's sales order, the vendor will directly deliver it to the client. This will cut down on the time to deliver and the shipping cost.
Introducing Zakya POS has enabled Zylker Apparels to expand their clientele and business base. It has ensured quick delivery and has proven to be handy when there is a hiccup in the stock availability as well.
Using Sales Orders in a pharmacy : A Use Case scenario
Zylker Pharmacy is a renowned name in the pharmaceutical business. They have customers who have been purchasing with them for years now. However, their primary customers are also people who are aging and are sick. Thus, they started door-delivery.
Now, this is generating a lot of business not only in the near radius but people across the town want to purchase from them because of their name in the business and the quality they ensure. This is where Sales Orders in Zakya can come into play. Zylker's customers can place an order online and their order will be generated into a Sales Order.
This Sales Order will include all the crucial details including the customer details, the items ordered, the quantity required and the amount quoted. On delivering the order, an Invoice will be raised to the customer and the payment can be collected.
Introducing Zakya POS has enabled Zylker Pharmacy to maintain a clear record of online purchases and a separate record of direct in-store or walk-in purchases which will usually be recorded as an Invoice. Sales Orders act as a clear indicator of the Sales Performed, the items cancelled or returned and it also acts as a visual marker to gauge the most selling item. Thus, providing Zylker and their clients a hassle free shopping experience while being accurate on the sales metrics.
